Giampietro Giumento, clarinetist, was born in Arcinazzo Romano (Rome).
After his classic and humanistic studies, he graduated from the "Licinio Refice" State Music Conservatory of Frosinone in the class of Maestro Vincenzo Buonomo. Just turned eighteen, he was chosen by the Italian Radio and Television (RAI) to participate in the program "Voglia di Musica" by Luigi Fait.
Afterwards, he was a student of Vincenzo Mariozzi, who determinanted his musical growth. Then he studied in prestigious Musical Academies, such as the Mozarteum in Salzburg with Alfred Prinz, the Chigiana Music Academy of Siena with Giuseppe Garbarino and for the chamber music with Riccardo Brengola, the Accademia della Svizzera Italiana of Lugano and in the Ottorino Respighi Accademy (Assisi) with Karl Leister. In ‘97 he moved to Chicago to study with Larry Combs (Chicago Symphony soloist).
Winner of several national competitions, as well as the audition for the Orchestra Giovanile Italiana, (Italian Youth Orchestra), he has been First Clarinet in the Orchestra Internazionale d’Italia, in the Orchestra del Teatro Lirico of Cagliari, in the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana (as guest), in the Orchestra del Teatro Verdi of Salerno (as guest) and he has collaborated with the Orchestra of Accademia Nazionale of Santa Cecilia, with the Orchestra of the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, with the Orchestra of St.Carlo in Naples, performing with internationally acclaimed conductors such as Kuhn, Sinopoli, Graf, Lu Jia, Mechkat, De Bernart, Boyd, Hallfter, Lewis, Mandeal, Neuhold, Machado, Kellogg, Bellugi and others.
He has performed as soloist with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Iasi, together with elements of the RAI Symphonic Orchestra of Rome, with the Budapest Chamber Orchestra, with the Sòfia Chamber Orchestra etc.. He has toured many European Countries, in the North and South America and in Northern Africa. Very important have been the solo tours in Canada and Morocco with the string orchestra the " Estro Armonico" , where he met a huge success playing the Variations by Rossini. He has been a member of the ROMENSEMBLE ‘900.
He has recorded for RAI RADIOTRE (in the Program "Radio Tre Suite"), the State Disco, the Vatican Radio, the Mexican Television, the CFMT of Toronto and the Bulgarian Radio and Television (Mozart Concerto live broadcast).
He was guest professor at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow (official invitation), at the “George Enescu” University of Arts in Iasi (Romania), at the University of Puebla (Mexico) and as part of the SOCRATES/ERASMUS projects he was at the ESMAE- Escola Superior de Musica, Artes e Espectaculo, Politecnico do Porto (Portugal), at the Polytecnic Faculty of Music in Lahti (Finland), at the Conservatory of Malaga (Spain), at the ”Victoria Eugenia” Real Conservatory of Granada (Spain) and at the Bursa State Uludag University (Turkey).
He has also held master classes in Canada (Hamilton), Brazil (S. Paulo), Romania (Suceava Conservatory) as well as in Italy (Ravello and the TIP Rome Conference 2009). He is a teacher of Seminari Musicali Internazionali in Vasto (CH) and in 2016 he had the honour to teach at the "Italian Clarinet Summer University" of Camerino.
He was a jury member of the Valentino Bucchi International Competition, of the "Hyperion" International Competition of Chamber Music, of the International Music Tournament (TIM), of the Pergolesi National Competition in Naples and of the National Competition organized by the Academy of Art (HaMaDeUs) of Bari.
He has taught at the State Music Conservatories of Matera, Reggio Calabria, Castelfranco Veneto, Potenza, Benevento, Trapani and Campobasso. At the present he holds a professorship of clarinet, as well as he is a teacher in the Two-year Specialization of Level II Degree, at the "San Pietro a Majella" Music Conservatory of Naples.
